Is there anything more lovely than the intoxicating scent of lilacs?

Found on Elizabeth Anne Designs.

Would a wedding palette designed around lilacs look like this?

What a beautiful idea!

From time to time, our clients and family and friends ask us the question above, what does a wedding planner do all day? They want to know why it takes us a full day to return an email or voice mail, and why we are almost never available for a meetup during happy hour! The answer? We are spending “business hours” executing the business of our client’s weddings, and after hours meeting with our clients, as they mostly work full time as well. Here is a peek into one of my recent work days as an example of how our days are full of flowers, cupcakes, and clients!
7:00am – Wake up, answer emails received overnight (about 75-100). Make breakfast, protein is important to our days!
8:00am – Visit the gym, staying in shape is important to be able to be physically fit for the demands in wedding season.
9:00am – Drop the little guy off at school.
9:30am – Open the office, check in with the interns and staff on any outstanding issues. Check email (another 50), post daily blog, listen and return voicemail from overnight.
10:00am – Meet with a new photographer looking to introduce their work to us.
10:30am – Coffee with established travel agent to catch up on honeymoon trends and recent shared clients.
11:00am – Tasting at a local hotel for an upcoming wedding with clients. Review of menu, changes, linen choices, etc.
1:00pm – Back at desk, book vendor meetings for four out of town clients next week, all vendors must agree to meet at our office, to Skype with our clients. Navigating the schedule of over 20 vendors, not an easy task!
1:30pm- Negotiations call with a venue in southern Colorado to see if the food and beverage minimums and per person pricing can be affected enough to make the venue work for our clients.
2:00pm- Floral meeting with a summer client. We discuss centerpiece and personal flower options, so that the florist can pull together a bid based on the inspiration board we have designed with the client’s taste in mind.
2:45pm – Catering appointment with the same client. We discuss menu options, late night snack ideas, etc. Did I forget to eat lunch? My stomach is growling.
3:30pm – Grab a cupcake (left at office by some amazing vendor) as lunch and drive to our favorite seamstress of another bride’s gown fitting. Her complex bustle will create an overage in her budget for alterations. Make a note that her budget needs to be adjusted!
5:00pm- Back into the office! Consult with potential new clients for a 2013 wedding. They are so adorable, so in love! We learn more about their plans and dreams, and we share our experience and methodology. They sign a contract on the spot, which makes the meeting run longer than scheduled, but pop the champagne!
6:30pm – Kickoff meeting for new clients. We discuss their budget, inspiration board, personality analysis, etc. We can’t wait to get started on this beautiful fall wedding!
8:00pm- Time to head home, answer voicemail on the way.
8:30pm – Make dinner, put the little guy to bed, then answer new email (about another 150 by this point), revise any inspiration boards that have feedback, update budgets, and finalize to do list for tommorow, whew!
11:00pm- Go to sleep and dream of cupcakes, flowers, and clients, oh my!

Aspen Wedding Planner: Meghan and Tad’s clear Aspen view wedding at The Little Nell
Leave a comment | Filed under Fall Wedding Real WeddingA Touch of Bliss executed Meghan and Tad’s Aspen wedding at The Little Nell on October 1, 2011! It was filled with the love and memories of their travels.
The Perfect Petal created a floral vision with texture and mercury glass.
Meghan and Tad had a beautiful Catholic ceremony at the charming St. Mary’s church in Aspen. As the ceremony ended, the guests were then escorted by the gondolas up to a clear tent on the patio for cocktails.
As the guests arrived they were able to sign the thumbprint tree guest book and begin to dance the night away with stun dance music by Celebration Nation.
As the night came to an end, Meghan and Tad were able to see their way out by a row of sparklers.
As their guests traveled their way out of the celebration, they were given glow sticks to find their way down the gondola.
Thank you to all of our vendors and we wish Meghan and Tad many more travels to come.
