Bunches of Bliss...Elevating Events, Designing Details, and Bits of Wedding Sunshine

A Touch of Bliss was the wedding planner for Sloane and Kevin’s scenic ceremony at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, Colorado. After the couple exchanged vows in the garden, guests retreated to the Arrabelle at Vail Square to dine and dance the night away. Beautiful orange hues mingled merrily with shades of gray to create a gorgeous setting for the couple to celebrate with close family and friends.

DENVER – Kerri Butler, president and founder of Colorado’s largest wedding planning company A Touch of Bliss, joined the 9NEWS Wednesday morning crew to talk Denver wedding trends. Three distinct themes are hot this season: emerald tones, ombre color gradient and vintage-inspired themes.

According to Kerri and A Touch of Bliss, there are seven specific themes that are expected to be seen at Spring weddings here in Denver and she explains them below:

1. Emerald: Pantone’s 2013 color of the year has moved from the runway to the wedding aisle. Emerald makes for a stunning color scheme; it embodies glamour and is fabulously bold for prints and patterns. It is easy to incorporate this exciting color into wedding day design and décor – from emerald green wedding cakes to emerald green wedding details and floral, the design possibilities are endless.

2. Mint and gold: Fresh mint and dramatic gold are making an appearance in the details and accessories of 2013 weddings. This color combination brings glamour to any wedding with its contrast between cool and warm, modern and timeless, and chic and elegant. The gold gives the perfect amount of warmth to a wintery wedding, but the mint provides a refreshing touch to a hot summer celebration.

3. Paper design: Paper design is really hot this year. Couples are decorating with paper florals, paper lanterns, and even building entire chandeliers out of paper. From décor to accessories, paper designs are a fun way to get crafty with weddings and wow guests with originality, creativity and all around eye-catching elements.

4. Ombre: Ombre colors have been gaining popularity in the fashion world over the past year. “Ombre,” a French term for “shaded or graduated in tone,” is a fun effect where colors blend into one another from light to dark. It’s a perfect option for a couple who want to use a lot of different colors in their wedding in a sophisticated way. Ombre is being used everywhere, from brides taking the plunge with touches of ombre in their gowns and accessories to using the color effect in florals, décor and cakes. The ruffle cakes in ombre are particularly hot right now.

5. Vintage: Thanks to the popularity of “Downtown Abbey” and the soon-to-be released film adaptation of “The Great Gatsby,” the fashion of the 1920’s is hitting the wedding scene and bringing with it all of the glitz and glamour of the decade. Gilded trim, lace, long sleeves, garden parties, manicured lawns, high tea, sheer gowns, headpieces, china, and shimmering candlelight are just a few elements that are reminiscent of weddings long ago. The look is timeless and is oh-so-romantic.

6. Rustic: Always a popular theme for Colorado weddings, couples are taking an eclectic approach to rustic weddings, combining natural, outdoorsy details with elegant elements. Mixing rustic hay-bale seating with elegant tables featuring mismatched china is popular. Centerpieces are geods, stone votives mixed with romantic florals spilling out of rustic containers. The look is eclectic and whimsical, more like a feeling like you are at someone’s house and seeing a table in their home.

7. Birds: Birds continue to fly high in 2013. Often associated with romance and love, birds have been added to decorations, invitations, cake toppers, and centerpieces. Feathers, bird insignias, bird cages and more, these aviary accents can add a touch of sweetness and personality to almost any wedding decor.

As someone who’s always had a flair for the dramatic, this picture totally struck me. The fairy tale setting, the chandeliers, the red lips, the soft waves, and… THE DRESS! Each element comes together oh-so-perfectly in one fabulous shot to create a romantic vision that completely inspires. I am so in love with the beautiful blush color of this gown, and the utter drama of the layers upon layers of ruffles that creates so much texture and contrast with the woodsy setting. To me, this gown is everything!
Bravo Miss Swift, you’ve never looked better.

A Touch of Bliss was the wedding planner for Jessica and Jordan’s vintage-inspired wedding on June 16, 2012 at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and Chautauqua Dining Hall in Boulder, Colorado. Unique touches were ever present as the couple joined with family and friends to celebrate their beautiful ceremony of love.

This stylistic wedding was a creation of a creative bride and her planner- a rustic wedding with steampunking and biology touches. Napkin rings of watch interiors, vintage apothecary labels on floral jars, biology prints custom made for runners, framed fabric, and menu cards brought turn of the century details to the Chautauqua Hall tent. In contrast, Perfect Petal created an ethereal ceremony environment with a chuppah drenched in sunlight, adorned with tropical foliage and airplants. Guests were invited to the wedding with laser-inscribed wood invitations, and enjoyed details such as a photobooth with steampunking props and fat bird salt and pepper shakers at the event.

Today is a wonderful day in the state of Colorado. At midnight last night, Colorado enacted the Civil Unions Act, allowing couples of the unite, and be recognized as a legal couple – inheriting property, in the case of health issues, insurance recognition, etc. We are very excited that Colorado has made this change, and the A Touch of Bliss team will be at the Webb Building downtown this morning, handing out hot chocolate and encouragement to the hundreds of couples who have been in line for hours waiting for their special moment!

Although Colorado has made great progress recognizing same sex couples, our company still stands by the belief that love and MARRIAGE should be for all. Please encourage your congressman and senator to support gay marriage to be recognized by the Federal government.

Celebrate this happy day! Squeeze your loved one a little tighter, and enjoy the fact that we are all one step closer to recognizing one love for all people!

I’m feeling all fluttery at the thought of feathers for events. They can lighten your atmosphere in a unique way, as long as they’re not overdone. *cue moderation speech again* Feathers are fabulous in your everyday life as well- mix it up with a feather arrangement on your mantle, pair those flowing locks with some feathery extensions or let your inner-Carrie Bradshaw shine with some feathered Manolos.

Now lets get down to the nitty gritty: My inspiration for this weeks post was feather pocket squares and boutonnieres! Challenge the man in your life to this fashion-forward, feathery accessory

(also a less-expensive DIY solution to floral boutonnieres for your next event!)

who needs floral/greenery fillers when you have feathers?

haven’t seen this one in real life yet… talk about creative!

minimalism at its finest! love this lampshade

float&flutter on, my friends.

My name is Stephanie and I am a Lace-aholic. (-Hi, Stephanie.)
As a designer, one of my favorite elements is texture. A great fabric or finish can transform something ordinary into so much more and lace is no exception. It can be both classic and sexy, tuned up or toned down, overboard or understated. Simply put, texture is an interaction of elements; here are some great lacy interactions to inspire you today. Just remember, in moderation, almost everything is good for you.

no, i did not make this the background on my computer as soon as i found it…

i need to find this tape IMMEDIATELY.

A Touch of Bliss was the wedding planner for Stephanie and Mason’s wedding on July 4, 2012 at Cherokee Ranch and Castle in Sedalia, Colorado. The couple’s Fourth of July influenced wedding was full of both love and color from the bridesmaid’s red gowns to almost a hundred blue, white and red hanging lanterns glittering in the tent.

The favors were recipes boxes full of the couples favorite recipes!

Tables were named after their favorite peaks!

The couple stuffed the cake with colorful red and blue berries!
